It was the largest quilt show in Europe on Friday and after looking at some of the inspirational photos our product manager Jane took on the day all I can say is WOW!
I was perhaps a bit one dimensional in my perception of quilt making before, if I thought of quilt making I would have pictured a traditional patch work quilt and that would have been about it, that’s until I saw the pictures from Friday.
As much as I love a traditional homemade patch work quilt, I didn’t realise just how artistic some people get with a needle and thread! These fantastic pieces of art that vary in size, shape and colours are so intricate – I couldn’t even imagine how much time they would have taken to create!
I’ve added a couple of my favourites below, but to see them all check out the photos on our facebook page and have a go at getting creative with some needles and thread.
I will definitely be going along to this show next year!

Than you for choosing my ‘turban’ quilt as one of your favorites
No problem at all, it looks fantastic! Just out of interest how long did it take you?
It took about nine months to make from I started to draw the pattern and dye the fabric till it was finished.
Thanks Richard for featuring my Teacup Quilt, maybe not as ‘quilty’ as most of the works of art/labours of love on display at the Festival of Quilts but it’s good to have light and shade and I just wanted to make people smile with my ‘soft crockery’
